Project Imagine’s first-ever Wine & Art FUNraiser raised nearly $15,000 to aid in expanding services to hospitalized children in the Las Vegas community.
Project Imagine is an Arts in Medicine Program dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for hospitalized children by encouraging creative expression. They inspire art, music, dance, theater and literary exploration, with the knowledge that these actions can aid in treatment success, reduce anxiety and bring comfort to pediatric patients, their families and caregivers. They believe in the healing power of the arts and an optimum life experience filled with love, laughter and boundless imagination.
Ann Sprague, Project Imagine Chairman of the Board and Canyon Creative Vice President said, “We are forever grateful to everyone who came and donated, and to our incredible sponsors who made it all happen.”
Guests were able to participate in art sessions, just as the children in the hospital would, including painting, illustration and sculpting. “It was really inspiring to see everyone so involved in the creative process and engaged in how the children benefit from those sessions,” Ann said.
Diane Mifsud, the guiding force of Project Imagine and its Executive Director, was amazing as she shared the history of the organization. She told the story of how one little girl named Tamera (who sadly passed away from leukemia) is the reason it all came to be and how her struggle was the reason Diane dedicated her life to bringing color and wonder to hospitalized children.
Later, several of the children who have been hospitalized spoke at the event, bringing tears to many an eye. They shared their stories of how the Project Imagine artists offer them hope and joy in otherwise sad circumstances.
The evening was rounded out by a raffle, a painting auction and cookie parting gifts.
Thank you to the sponsors: Domsky Glass, who lent us their incredible space; Breakthru Beverage Group for donating all the alcohol; Lola’s for the out-of-this-world food; Blick for donating a ton of art materials; and Canyon Creative for their assistance with marketing. A special shout out goes to Kitos Lucero for the donation of his incredible painting!
